Introduction!
Hi, my name is Anastasia Bozovic and I am a freshman at North Central. I am currently on the women's tennis program here. I am majoring in Marketing and really want to get involved in PR as well as maybe minor in Sports Management or Communications. Before enrolling in college here I really thought I would minor in Accounting, but ever since I took Financial Accounting last semester my plans have changed.
My aunt is an accountant and she really embodies a strong woman. So growing up, I always looked up to her and how well she deals with numbers and computers. I think I was more infatuated with the idea of just being her than with the work it takes to be where she was. I was incredibly humbled my first day in Financial Accounting, but thankfully, one of my teammates was in class with me. So, therefore, we struggled together. I also went to many office hours and really tried to make myself like accounting, but in the end I realized that if I wasn't getting it right off the bat, then I'd never truly comprehend it. My aunt always says that you either get it or you don't.
All in all, I utilized my resources and continued to go to office hours as well as staying in touch with my Professor whenever I needed help. I went to tutors and eventually my C- turned into a B- by the end of the semester. Accounting is a requirement for my major, and the thought of having to take that class again was overwhelming. I put in the work and it really payed off in the end, even if I didn't enjoy the process of getting there.
In terms of this semester, and specifically Card 102, I really enjoy how we start every class with free writing. In my personal experience, I feel like I haven't done something like that since middle school. It allows me to really touch on my emotions and mindset on that day instead of just bottling things in.
I'm glad the freewriting helps! You seem to have a great set of plans before you. I appreciate your willingness to share, both in class, and here at the blog. Keep it up!
