Why I Hate Halloween

Halloween is an overrated holiday. As a child, I loved it. I would count down the days until the 31st. The excitement around my costume and getting ready for it completely enamored me. Our household around the 31st was hectic and all around overstimulating. I don't know how my parents dealt with my sister and I. We honestly took it way too seriously. I watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at least 20 times during my childhood solely for the reason that they incorporated halloween in it. The photo I used is the great hall scene from the movie, and whenever I see it I feel like a kid again. This image is the only time I get nostalgic about the holiday. Nothing traumatic happened on halloween to make me hate it. It's just because plans never really work out. Everyone has such high expectations for it, and we always get let down. I hate getting my hopes up for nothing, and that happens every year. So, in all, hate is a strong word,  but I hate it. I can't go trick or treating, and dressing is not as fun anymore.

  1. Aww! I hear you! I know I enjoy Trick or Treating with my nieces. And sometimes, when I push myself, I enjoy making a costume :)

    But I hear you!
