For Everything That I Have, Everything I am.

Today in class, Dr. Kyburz had us focus on gratitude in our free write. This free write was probably my most favorite from this entire semester. I started with bullet points:

  • My family: a given, even though I feel like I hate them sometimes.
  • The relationship I have with my mother: It's rocky, but I know she only wants the best for me, and I love her always.
  • Health: This past thanksgiving break I was sick with mono and was in and out of hospitals; I genuinely felt like I was dying.
  • Youth: Seeing my parents get older is really scary.
  • Playing the sport that I love at the best of my ability: Knock on wood, I've never had any serious injuries that have prevented me from playing.
  • My sisters: I'm the youngest out of four; it's a lot, but I wouldn't trade them for the world.
  • Being an aunt: I'm the fun one.
  • My car: takes me from point A to B.
  • Education: So grateful that my parents are supporting me.
  • My friends: They are there whenever I feel alone.
  • My best friend: Understands me even when I don't understand myself.
  • Becoming a godparent: I cried when I was asked. It's the most uplifting feeling when someone trusts you that much.
  • Downtown Chicago: I don't know what I would do if there wasn't a lakefront.
  • Only being waitlisted In 2 classes for the spring: pretty impressive.
  • Laptop and Phone: I would probably go into cardiac arrest If I didn't have this.
  • Concealer: Self-explanatory.
  • Primary doctor: She's been treating me since I was a newborn.
